    Black’s Beach San Diego

Black’s Beach is San Diego’s most famous gay beach and one of the largest clothing-optional beaches in the United States. Set below the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines, it takes a bit of effort to reach - usually by walking down steep trails or along the shoreline at low tide - but that sense of seclusion is part of its appeal.

The northern end of Black’s Beach is where the gay crowd typically gathers. On sunny weekends, it’s a lively stretch filled with LGBTQ+ locals and visitors, with plenty of space to spread out. The atmosphere ranges from social and chatty to laid-back and private, with people sunbathing, swimming, or strolling the long shoreline.

Because it’s clothing-optional, you’ll find everything from swimsuits to full nudity. It’s well known as a safe and welcoming space, where you can relax without judgment. There are no facilities on the beach itself, so visitors usually bring coolers, drinks, and umbrellas for shade. The trek down the cliffs can be challenging, but once you’re there, it's one of California’s most spectacular LGBTQ+ beach experiences.
